Cubemen is a new Steam title developed by the small Melbourne based development team 3Sprockets. Putting a minimalistic spin on the classic Tower Defense game, Cubemen is simple both visually and aurally, easy to play and can quickly become a mad rush to stop the enemy units from reaching your base. The game has zero redundancies and with a very short learning curve, requires very little effort to fully enjoy. At a glance nothing is strikingly different from other Tower Defense titles, but dig a little deeper and Cubemen offers a huge range of maps and playing modes to choose from. The basic gameplay is typical of any Tower Defense title with a player and enemy spawn point. You choose what units to deploy and where, and this is how the game adds a unique and dynamic element: you can move your deployed units at any time during a game to either protect your more important units, or to rearrange your defenses. Having this option gives Cubemen a freedom that the Tower Defense genre doesn't normally offer. There are a total of 7 units to choose from with varying health, movements speeds and weapon damage. Each unit is bound to a number on the keyboard between 1 and 7 which makes deploying units extremely quick and easy, but the most impressive aspect of the gameplay is the choice of 6 modes and 50 maps to play them on.
